Are you comfortable working on legacy code, auditing systems holistically, and proactively proposing and implementing improvements?Bonitasoft is on a mission to transform Bonita Studio, our Eclipse-based process modeling environment, into a modern web-based Studio. But first, we need you, a technically sharp, forward-thinking Senior Backend Developer who will help us navigate the legacy, evolve the present, and co-create the future.

The product

Bonita Studio is an integrated development environment with a rich modeling stack. You’ll step in as the go-to expert on the backend, with real autonomy over how it evolves.

What’s it’s in it for you ?

You’ll have the space to audit, refactor, and improve a complex system. You’ll go deep technically, not just implement tasks, but lead the architecture. You’ll work with real engineering challenges Maven, builds, performance

You’ll lead a product transformation, not just maintain legacy. Yes, the current Studio is legacy. But the mission is bold: rebuild it as a web-based tool. You’ll co-create the backend architecture of that new Studio reusing what makes sense and leaving behind what doesn’t.

You’ll work in a culture of ownership and clarity : We operate in full remote mode. Work from anywhere in France, own your time, and collaborate with people who care about product quality and clean code.

What you Bring to the table ?

• We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical depth and human soft skills.
• You’re a Java expert with hands-on Maven mastery (not just a user, you can configure and debug the whole chain).
• You’ve worked on large-scale, legacy applications, and can understand all layers code, security, DB, CI, architecture.
• You’ve contributed to migration or refactoring projects and can propose system-level solutions.
• You like to take initiative, speak up, and move things forward with tact and clarity.
• You feel at home in remote environments
• English reading/writing is key, speaking is a plus.

Maybe you’ve worked at a software vendor, an ESN, or on a large project that gave you real exposure to system complexity. That’s exactly the kind of experience we value.

Onboarding - what to expect ?

This isn’t just another developer role, it’s a chance to shape a core product. You’ll become the technical reference for the current Bonita Studio, and one of the key players in its transformation into something new.

Here’s your path with us:

• Week 1 : Introduction to the team and tech.
• Month 1 : First commits, deep dive into the Studio code and build chain.
• Month 4 (end of Trial) : Full ownership of key subsystems, making meaningful contributions.
• Month 6 : Active contributor to the new Studio’s backend vision.
• Year 1 : You're the go-to expert on legacy and a builder of the new architecture.
